Somerset Council is seeking volunteers to join its Public Health Nursing team.
The Public Health Nursing team provides help to families from pregnancy to a child’s fifth birthday, through support sessions held across the County.
Somerset Council says child development in the first five years of life is critical and lays the foundations for a healthy and fulfilled adult life.
Their support sessions can make a big difference to a child’s life, even for years after they’ve stopped attending the sessions.
The role of a volunteer involves:
Meeting and greeting attendees at group sessions
Providing refreshments
Offering general admin support such as recording attendance
Engaging and interacting with families
Meetings are held in most towns in Somerset with one held close to where you live.
If you would like to become a volunteer with Somerset Council’s Public Health Nurses team and help children and their parents live healthier please call 01823 359200 or go to volunteer@somerset.gov.uk
