A new network of Community Action Groups has launched in Somerset to persuade more people to repair and reuse their unwanted items.
Local repair shops are helping to run the network, providing opportunities for people to learn how to make simple clothing repairs and repairs to certain household and electrical items.
Through training, practical support and networking opportunities, the Community Action Groups aim to promote the reuse, repair, waste reduction, and sharing of surplus food or composting.
Managed by Resource Futures, the network is backed by Somerset Council and their waste contractor SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK.
The newly created network can help established groups, groups that are just starting, or people thinking about setting up a group with Resource Futures aiming to expand the types of groups they support in the future.
Two new litter-pick stations have been installed, equipped with litter pickers and reusable bags for anyone to borrow and do their own two-minute clean-up at countryside sites across South Somerset.
