Yeovil Refresh

Work has started on the next major phase of Yeovil Refresh.

The multi-million-pound project to smarten up Yeovil town centre has moved into Middle Street where the footways are being widened, new street furniture with bench seating is being installed and the street lighting improved.

With sections of Middle Street closed, the opportunity is being taken to complete any drainage updates.

The work is being completed in a series of phases, with the first two phases scheduled for completion by the end of November.

During the period of the works, the top of Middle Street will be closed to traffic at the junction of Union Street/Wine Street and Peter Street, however, access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and taxis accessing Silver Street.

Blue Badge parking in Middle Street will not be accessible throughout work. As such, Blue Badge holders should use the spaces provided in Peter Street or the nearby public car parks.

Access for shoppers to Middle Street will be maintained throughout.

Somerset Council hope that, by closing Middle Street entirely, there will be less confusion over access times, and that the works can be completed sooner.

The Council says there will be disruption to businesses, residents and visitors to Middle Street but that they’re working with partners to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum.
