Former Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh has quit the Conservative party accusing it of being ‘dead’. Mr Fysh, who lost the Yeovil seat to Liberal Democrat Adam Dance in last Thursday’s general election, posted on X that the current make-up of the Tory party meant there was "no chance of it ever being electable again".  He said a new party was needed that was "centre and centre right, with sensible small ‘c’ Conservative appeal to the whole country".

The NatWest bank in Yeovil is one of several NatWest branches that has been used to withdraw £10,800 with a stolen bank card. Dorset Police are investigating the theft and fraudulent use of the card and have shared CCTV images of a man they want to identify. The bank card was used in Yeovil on Monday, April 22nd. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police or call 101.
