The family of a Chard man, missing in Sardinia, say they will stay on the island until he's found. Michael Frison disappeared after going for a walk nearly three weeks ago. The 25-year-old had been working as a volunteer on a farm on the island. Police in Sardinia suspended their search for him last Friday.

The parents of Somerset rower Rebecca Wilde say they feel so proud watching their daughter at the Olympics. Becky, together with her partner Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne, qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s double sculls at the weekend.

The A303 Ilminster bypass will be closed to traffic from 8 pm tonight until 6 am tomorrow for essential maintenance work to take place. It will also close between the same times on Wednesday and Thursday. A diversion will operate via the A358, A378 and A372 during the closure.

Somerset Council says it's disappointed that County Hall in Taunton has again been targeted by protesters. It follows several incidents in which protesters sprayed red paint across the front of the Grade II listed building.

Children at Chilthorne Domer Primary School have completed a 13-mile sponsored walk raising £3,500 for School in a Bag. In thanking the children for their efforts, the charity said the money will be used to provide school bags with pens, notebooks and other school equipment, to children in Africa.

Repairs to the A30 on the Devon-Somerset border are finally under way, after a 3-year delay. Since July 2021, motorists have had to contend with temporary traffic lights at Crawley Farm, between Chard and Yarcombe. It followed the collapse of an embankment and half the road being closed as a safety measure. Contractors have been appointed to stabilise the embankment, with the road expected to fully reopen before Christmas.
