    Late-night buses are to start running in Somerset but initially on major bus routes across the County only. The new evening services are part of efforts by Somerset County Council to increase passenger numbers using local buses. 

    NHS Somerset is looking to re-organise stroke services in the county. Four options are under consideration, including closing the hyper-acute stroke unit at Yeovil Hospital. A public consultation is expected in the New Year. 

    New grant funding is being offered to farmers on the Mendips to help lower their carbon footprint. Farmers are being given up to fifteen hundred pounds through the Mendip AONB's ‘Farming in Protected Landscape Scheme’ for a carbon audit to be carried out into their farming activities. 

    A shop in Chard has presented a cheque for nearly £900 to Chard Hospital League of Friends. The Original Factory Shop on Great Western Rd raised the money with customers making a donation with every carrier bag purchased and every purchase made using a club card.

    Yeovil Town are back in action tonight. They take on Taunton Town in the first round of the Somerset Premier Cup at Huish Park. Ticket prices have been reduced for tonight’s game; under 16 tickets are just £1and adult tickets are £5.
