Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh has spoken out against giving children the Covid vaccine. The jab is on offer from next week to children aged 12 to 15 but they can turn it down if they don’t want it. It’s part of the Government's "Autumn and winter Covid plan" which also includes booster jabs for people aged 50 and over. Mr. Fysh believes vaccinating children is a step too far.

More than 200 people are objecting to plans to convert a former care home into a homeless shelter in Yeovil. Bournemouth Churches Together have applied for ‘change of use’ on Acacia Lodge on Hendford Hill. If approved, their homeless shelter in Newton Road would transfer to Hendford Hill.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage of a motorist driving "in a dangerous manner" as part of an ongoing investigation. The incident took place in Yeovil at about noon last Thursday (09-09). It involved a black 52-plate BMW seen being driven along St Michael’s Avenue, Matthews Road, Gordon Road and King Street. The driver failed to stop for police. A 26-year-old man was later arrested and released under investigation. Anyone with video of the incident is asked to call the police on 101.

Two mill buildings in Chard could still be redeveloped despite a decision to put the plan on hold. South Somerset District Council originally intended to bring both Boden Mill and Holyrood Lace Mill back into full residential and commercial use as part of the Chard regeneration scheme. Mayor of Chard, Jason Baker, told a meeting of the District Council that the plan to convert Boden Mill and Holyrood Lace Mill had been paused but not cancelled as efforts continue to find suitable partners and investors.
