Work to upgrade the gas network on Preston Road in Yeovil begins later this month. Wales and West Utilities start the work on July 20th. A one-way system will operate between Larkhill Road, Preston Grove and Bell Chase until September 2nd. Watercombe Lane at its junction with Preston Road will close. Wales and West say the work is to ensure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and bio-methane, to help deliver a greener Somerset.
The future of eleven council buildings and services in Yeovil has been secured. At a meeting last night, members of Yeovil Town Council voted to take over the management, staffing and funding of Yeovil Country Park, Mudford Rec and Westland Entertainment venue after Somerset Council said they could no longer afford to provide them.

The Council will now buy Glovers Walk and convert rooms above shops in Middle Street and Wyndham Street into living spaces.
