Tourism businesses in South Somerset say they're ready to re-open safely to visitors as soon as restrictions allow. It means all sectors will miss the Easter weekend. Mark Edwards from Langport, who has holiday lets across the Westcountry, says the days the government have chosen are unhelpful.
A Yeovil man, accused of rape and sexual activity with a child, has been jailed for eight years and nine months after pleading guilty to the charges against him. Bristol Crown Court was told that Alan Barney of Roseberry Avenue in Yeovil abused the girl when she was thirteen and that a month earlier, he had forced himself on a woman. Both incidents were said to have happened in the Bristol area.
