A lorry driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a bridge on Friday. The incident happened on the northbound M5 near Taunton, just before the morning rush hour. Firefighters had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free the motorist. However, the driver’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Glastonbury has come to an end for another year with Coldplay becoming the first act to headline the festival five times. They overtake The Cure, who headlined the slot four times.

Pupils and staff at East Coker Community Primary are celebrating after raising funds for the school, supported by a Team England star. Basketballer Corey Samuels held a special assembly, inspiring students and showing his medals – and led a circuit training class. Well over £800 of the money raised will be used to enrich the children’s learning experience.

A new drive-through coffee outlet in Yeovil is getting the thumbs up from its customers. Costa opened in Morrisons car park in Lysander Road in May and the owners, who run the franchise, are reporting success. Mark and Jane Brown own 16 shops across the West Country, including the new drive-through.

And with the country going to the polls this Thursday, you can hear the Yeovil hustings that took place last week in the community section of this website. The six candidates standing answered questions submitted by the public, and the event was recorded at the Gateway.
