Plans have been approved to update Chard Police Station. The building will be fitted with solar panels and air source heat pumps to reduce energy bills and new fencing and gates for improved security. The work will also see a new breastfeeding room and faith room provided. Avon and Somerset Police, who are investing £900,000 in the up-grade, say it will bring the building up to a higher standard for both members of the public and the officers who work out of Chard Police Station.
A Yeovil woman has raised more than eighteen hundred pounds for the mental health charity, Mind, ahead of running the London Marathon. Six years ago, Ella White had to sit her GCSEs from a hospital bed while undergoing treatment for anorexia. Now, she's recovered and is studying medicine at the University of Bristol.
