    Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted break-in at the Argos store off Babylon Hill near Yeovil. It happened at around 5.30 am on Sunday when a vehicle rammed the side of the building. Police say the vehicle was a light-blue Seat Salsa and would like to hear from anyone who saw it in the vicinity of the Argos store at the time of the attempted burglary or has dashcam footage.     The Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Right Reverend Michael Beasley, has spoken out against legalising assisted dying. He says it could result in vulnerable people feeling compelled to end their lives. A bill proposing legalising assisted dying is being introduced in Parliament this week, with supporters arguing it will give people nearing the end of life, the right to a peaceful and dignified death. 

    Pumpkin growers in Somerset say this year's harvest has been impacted by mild and wet weather and an overabundance of slugs. Barrington Court, which is owned by the National Trust, says its pumpkins are around 10 percent smaller than last year. 

    Ilminster Library has been closed for five weeks while it undergoes building work to improve accessibility. It'll reopen on Wednesday, November 27th, but the rear car park will be out of action for a further week while it's resurfaced. All items on loan will be automatically renewed until December 16th.

    Two-way traffic lights will be operating on Furnham Road in Chard from this Friday, October 25th to Sunday, November 3rd. this will allow Wales and West to carry out essential work to upgrade a gas pipe. A further road closure will take place at Furzehill from November 18th to December 20th. The works are in preparation for a wider £1.7 million project between Somerset Council, Wessex Water and Wales & West Utilities, to alleviate flooding and upgrade gas pipes near the town centre.

    St Margaret’s Hospice says £32,000 was raised through its Glorious Gardens Scheme this year. 51 gardens in 22 locations across Somerset held open days. St Margaret’s has thanked those who took part for their support.
