Plans to build a new football stadium and 295 new homes in Chard have been further delayed. It was thought the application would be decided at a meeting yesterday of the Somerset Area South Planning Committee. But members were told that due to legal difficulties, the plans had been put on-hold. If approved, the stadium – that would be home to Chard Town FC – together with the near 300 new homes would be built on land between Thorndun Park Drive and Crimchard on the northern edge of Chard.
Somerset Council has been given 10 million pounds by the government to help speed-up new housing developments across the county. Planning applications are being delayed due to developers not having measures in place to deal with phosphates. Somerset Council says it’ll invest the money in new phosphate mitigation schemes that will allow for dozens of delayed planning applications to go forward.
A new Chief Executive has been appointed to run the South Western Ambulance Service. He’s Dr John Martin who was previously chief paramedic and quality officer at the London Ambulance Service.
