Ten-man Yeovil Town drew 2-2 with King’s Lynn in a thrilling affair at the Walks.
After Dale Gorman’s penalty gave the Glovers an early lead, the hosts pulled a goal back before Matt Worthington was given his marching orders.
Despite Gold Omotayo striking the Linnets ahead, substitute Charlie Wakefield saved Yeovil’s blushes with a superb strike in stoppage time.
In his second league outing as manager, Charlie Lee made two changes to the side which was held at Barnet. Loanees Sonny Blu Lo-Everton & Josh Neufville were handed starts whilst Lawson D’Ath and Wakefield started on the bench.
The changes were looking to inject some energy in the Yeovil attack, and it worked to perfection just five minutes into the game, a fast counter saw Tom Knowles hauled down in the box, earning an opportunity to strike from the spot.
Gorman, who is yet to miss from the spot in a Yeovil shirt, stepped up and cooly dispatched the opener.
Following the goal, chances didn’t really fall for Yeovil, who were happy to keep the Linnets at arm's length.
Fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table, Lynn grew in confidence as the half grew on, forcing saves from Ted Cann.
With 38 minutes on the clock, the hosts equalised through Michael Clunan as he found space in the left channel, cut inside and dinked the ball over the Cann.
Just moments later, Town were dealt a second blow, with Matt Worthington sent off for a lunge, in a similar fashion to his red in the opening game of the season, also against the Linnets.
Reduced to ten men, the Glovers were clearly a little rattled in the closing stages of the half, and King’s Lynn made them pay, as Gold Omotayo pounced on Cann’s parry to turn the game on its head.
The second half saw Yeovil begin with added impetus, but chances weren’t really falling, with the game played in a broken fashion due to numerous injuries and fouls.
However, the game was played on an even playing field for the last twenty minutes as Munashe Sundire received his second yellow card of the afternoon after bringing down Josh Neufville as he broke away from him.
This inspired a second wind from the Glovers, who bombarded the Lynn goal with a number of chances.
The best fell to Mark Little in the 80th minute who just couldn’t get the ball out from and released a tame effort.
Looking for fresh legs to run at the tiring Linnets defence, Wakefield and Adi Yussuf were brought on by Lee, and it was Wakefield who proved to be the catalyst.
With just seconds played in stoppage time, Ben Barclay picked out Wakefield on the left flank, who then cut inside and released a placed effort to level the affair.
Following the goal, it was an end-to-end climax, but neither side could find a way through for the points to be shared in Norfolk.
