Yeovil Town fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge at Huish Park.

A first-half double from Paul McCallum all but killed the game in the first twenty minutes.

With the Glovers having failed to score twice in a single match in 2022, the uphill task for Town was clear. Despite starting the second half on the front foot, Junior Morias added a third to secure the points for Dagenham.

After a short injury lay-off, Olufela Olomola returned to the starting side, this saw Mark Little drop to the bench and Jordan Barnett replacing him in the back four.

The visiting Daggers began on top, and it only took them three minutes to force a save. Myles Weston found space in the left flank, but a combination of a Morgan Williams block and Grant Smith save forced the ball wide.

Just two minutes later, Dagenham did find a goal. A searching delivery caught the Yeovil defence napping and McCallum made no mistake, poking the ball beyond Grant Smith.

Goals have been at a premium for the Glovers this season, and it was clear to see why in the first half, with Elliot Justham remaining untested.

If Darren Sarll’s side were to have hope of snatching anything, they’d need to cut out mistakes, but this just wasn’t the case with a Smith error leading to Dagenham’s second. The Glovers’ no.1 free kick fell straight to McCallum who placed the ball into an empty net.

As the half grew on, Yeovil did grow into the game, Dale Gorman provided more thrust to any flurry forward, but he struggled to find the isolated forward line.

The second half did see more adventure from Yeovil Town, but frustratingly Justham remained untested between Dagenham’s second and third goals.

That third goal came with 63 minutes on the clock, as Morias spun in behind, beat Ben Barclay for pace and slotted calmly beyond Smith.

With the game dead and buried, Dagenham did well to manage their way through the evening, holding firm at the back and enjoying vast spells of possession.

In the closing stages, Yeovil did look for consolation. Substitute Adi Yussuf fired wide from an acute angle, but that was the best it got for Town, who will look to bounce back on Saturday against Grimsby.
