Yeovil Town 0 – 1 Woking

Yeovil Town fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Darren Sarll’s Woking at Huish Park.

Kyran Lofthouse’s first half goal separated the two sides in a tight affair.

In truth, there weren’t too many chances for either side, but one clinical moment from the Cards separated the two sides.

In what was a momentous afternoon for the Glovers, Darren Sarll’s Woking side looked to turn party poopers. There was an electric atmosphere pre kick-off as Matt Uggla and Paul Sackey were presented to the crowd, but it was Woking who started the better side.

With just four gone, Grant Smith was called into an early double stop after a dangerous cross from the visitors.

It took 15 minutes for the Glovers to create their first chance, and when it came it was a great one. Edwin Agbaje found himself driving into the box, he waited for support and found Jordan Young who saw his header just six-yards from goal saved.

Straight down the other end, Woking took the lead a minute later. A poor clearance fell straight to Kyran Lofthouse who hammered the ball beyond Smith.

With the wind in their sails, Woking looked to stamp their authority. A first-time effort from Rohan Ince forced a spectacular save from Smith at full-stretch with half an hour played.

The closest Town came in the remaining moments came from an excellent cross from Matt Worthington, which was almost met by Alex Fisher, but the no.9 was getting pushed in the back. Despite claims for a penalty nothing was given by the referee.

The second half saw Yeovil begin to improve. Almost instantly, Fisher was found at the edge of the box and forced a save.

With 50 on the clock, Young won back-to-back free-kick’s which saw one fly narrowly over, and another strike the wall.

Woking did very little with attacking intent with the second half, instead breaking up play and not allowing Yeovil much attacking freedom.

It took until the 85th minute for the Cards’ defence to be turned. Palmer-Houlden’s flick on released Oluwabori who found himself crowded out before he could shoot.

With a minute off normal time to play, Reckord’s ball was met by Cooper who hooked the ball back across goal, but Oluwabori was unable to connect with his header.

Town’s best chance of the afternoon fell in stoppage time. Young broke through one-on-one, he didn’t spot Palmer-Houlden waiting for a tap-in and his strike flew narrowly wide.

That was the best it got for the Glovers, who fell to a defeat at the hands of their former boss.
